Acknowledging one of our own

Partners in Sexual Health is proud to announce that Mr Samuel Alobwede, PSH’s Clinical Manager, obtained his Master’s Degree in Clinical Research. The topic of his thesis is “Perception of Stigma Experienced by People Living with HIV at a Health Facility in Khayelitsha Sub-District, Cape Town”.

The results of Samuel’s research found that although drugs are provided to fight and treat the spread of HIV, stigma still remains one of the main reasons why most people stop taking antiretrovirals (ARVs). Furthermore, the research results also found that stigma is still perpetuated not only by the community, but nurses in health care institutions who are supposed to provide treatment, care, love and support.

Well done Sam! We are proud of you!
